Introduction

Gaelcon is one of Ireland's largest games convention. It's backed and funded by the Irish Games Association.

Gaelcon repeatedly attracts participants from the UK, Mainland Europe, the USA, Canada and Israel.

Gaelcon is now in its 23rd year, and has been held in the RDS, the RHK, the Burlington hotel, Croke Park Conference Centre, Clontarf Castle, The Gresham Hotel and the Ballsbridge Inn (D4 Hotels).

At one point in time Gaelcon had a stuffed toy mascot called Hamish, who was sent out into the world with the job of bringing the next years guest to the con. Sadly Hamish has vanished, his location unknown, he is presumed ... stuffed. In 1997 John Tynes had the letter H for Hamish shaved in to his head at the Charity Auction, raising IRĀ£240. This may have had some thing to do with the disappearance of the beloved creature.
