To Dominicon

This is our fifteenth year of glorious Dominicon and the Octopope has decreed that it need be superior to all other gaming conventions, ever.

This will not be a simple task but it is our duty to follow the commands of our Betentacled Holiness to the best of our abilities and so we shall.

If you’ve never heard of Dominicon then fear not for on the pages of this site you will find all you need to re-educate your heathen mind.

For a long time now Dominicon has had a different theme each year. In fact, last year our theme was that we had no theme, figure that one out.

This year is “Dominicon: IN SPAAAAAAAAACE!!! “. So you can expect to find plenty of games with a futuristic/sci-fi feel but we’ll also have loads of games that don’t to keep things interesting.

I like the idea of having a theme because it makes for a memorable convention and can be a really good source of ideas. I also think it’s important to have a lot of games that don’t have anything to do with the theme so people don’t get sick of it. So my top priority is going to be putting together a con that’s going to be fun for everyone, sci-fi fan or not and if it fits in with the theme that’ll be an added plus.

Of course, in order to get something to fit in with the theme all you have to do is say say it really loudly and  stick the words “IN SPAAAAAAAAACE!!! ” after it.

There’s been a slight change in the timetable for wargames on saturday, we’re going to be starting 30 minutes earlier at 10.30am now. Also I’ve updated the information for the 40k and fantasy tournaments see the war games page for further details.

Hello and welcome to Dominicon 2008. This year’s dates are November 14^th – 16^th.

On these pages you will find all the information you need to plan your weekend, from the different games we have to booking accommodation if you’re travelling from afar.

For those new to Dominicon:

Dominicon is the NUI Maynooth Games Society’s annual convention. Dominicon has been running since 1995 and has been growing ever since. This will be Dominicon’s 14^th year. Dominicon boasts more than just games, our ever popular pizza run will be back again along with our Retro Room, where you can relax watching your favourite childhood television shows or playing some retro consoles.

So, sit down, have a cuppa, and read through our website, where you’ll be provided with all the information you require to have a fun filled weekend at Dominicon, and I’ll see you all in November.
